Moscow authorities put obstacles in the way of realization
of the Anti-Fur March in the capital

On October 20 a grandiose event is to be
held in Russia. For the first time in history of the country 46
Russian cities will take part in the anti-fur march, dated for the
beginning of the new winter season. The actions in Russia are part
of the World Anti-Fur March, annually held in many cities on
the planet and it testifies the extraordinary human consciousness
level rise.
"Animals are not clothing", - say millions of supporters
of ethical fashion and opponents of cruel fur industry today, which
takes the lives of about 100 million animals a year.
However, the Moscow Department of State’s Regional Security impedes
the event holding by suggesting organizers to conduct “only a meeting
within a specially assigned territory” instead of the declared action
form «march + meeting», that is an infringement of the Federal Law
of the Russian Federation No.54 "On Meetings, Rallies, Demonstrations,
Marches and Pickets".
Event organizers insist that the march is a legal form of the event
and have sent an open letter to the Moscow Mayor, S. S. Sobyanin
today.
The organizers have called upon everybody who planned to take part
in the Moscow anti-fur march on October 20, to contact the officials
who made a decision on the refusal by phone at the undermentioned
numbers and to let them know of the violation of their constitutional
rights.
